4. Creating a Session

Facilitator steps to create a room, choose a deck, add backlog items, and invite the team.

4.1 Create a Room

  • On the home screen, choose Create session.
  • Give the session a name (for example, Sprint 42 Planning).

4.2 Choose a Deck & Vote Type

Pick the estimation style that fits the discussion:

  • Planning poker with a Fibonacci or custom deck for story points.
  • Confidence (1–5) or fist-of-five for quick alignment checks.
  • Roman vote (thumbs up/down), dot voting, or a quick survey for prioritization.

4.3 Add Backlog Items

Add the stories or items you want to estimate. You can add them manually, or — if enabled by your administrator — import them from Azure DevOps.

4.4 Invite the Team

Share the six-character join code, the direct link, or a QR code. Participants join from web or mobile, in SharePoint or Microsoft Teams — no install required.
