Guide summary

How to use this guide for Permissions Manager 365 on SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams.

Who this is for

This knowledge base is for the people who use Permissions Manager 365 and the people who install it. Site owners and app admins can open the app. Everyone else sees a short message that an owner can name app admins.

The app shows direct SharePoint permissions for sites the signed-in person can already open, and it lets that person prepare a change before it is written. A direct assignment is a person or group named on that site, list, or library.

What the pictures show

The screenshots are the app itself, with the trial notice closed. The sites in the pictures are a sample inventory so every screen can be shown without a customer tenant. Your inventory will be the sites the signed-in account can open.

Permissions Manager 365 overview
Overview is the home page after setup.

Language and color mode sit at the bottom of the sidebar.

What the app does not do

  • It does not expand the people inside a group, and it does not treat a sharing setting as proof that an external person currently has access.
  • It does not grant site collection administrator rights.
  • It does not keep a restorable backup or a tenant compliance log. Exports are files built in the browser.
  • Role assignments are not stored in the hidden lists. They stay in the browser for the session.
